How to Remove "Page 1" Label from "Page Break Preview" in Excel

If you see "Page 1" in the "Page Break Preview" view in Excel, it indicates that you have set a manual page break at the beginning of the first page. Removing the "Page 1" label from this view is not possible since it is just a visual representation of the page breaks you've set.

However, if you want to remove the manual page break itself and revert to Excel's automatic page breaks, you can do that by following these steps:

  1. Open your Excel workbook and go to the worksheet with the "Page 1" label in the "Page Break Preview" view.

  2. Switch to the "Normal" view by clicking on the "Normal" button in the bottom right corner of the Excel window.

  3. Click on the cell where the "Page 1" label is located or any cell in the first row of the second page.

  4. Go to the "Page Layout" tab in the Excel ribbon.

  5. Look for the "Breaks" group on the ribbon.

  6. Click on the "Breaks" button, and then select "Remove Page Break" from the drop-down menu.

Excel will remove the manual page break you set, and the "Page 1" label should disappear from the "Page Break Preview" view. The automatic page breaks will be reestablished based on the default or adjusted page settings.

Please note that the "Page Break Preview" is just a visual tool to help you see how your data is divided across pages when printed. The "Page 1" label doesn't appear on the actual printouts or when viewing the worksheet in other views like "Normal" or "Page Layout." It is solely there to indicate the starting point of a new page as per the manual page break you set.
